Garsfontein reservoir

Corestruc was contracted by Mivami Rite Joint Venture to design and install the 2800m2 roof for a 30 mega-litre reservoir that was being built in Garsfontein. We worked with an approved manufacturer.

We were contracted at a very late stage in the project to join the professional team, which included civil and structural engineer, Bigen Africa, and client body, Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality.

By this time, the walls of the reservoir were almost complete and the main contractor had concluded the first of three lifts for the columns. We therefore proposed installing our pre-cast beams onto the in-situ columns of the reservoir.

Corestruc had to complete the roof structure in sections, with work sequenced according to the completion of the in-situ columns. The columns were prepared with final leveling grout to ensure high levels of accuracy before installation of the pre-cast beams and slab.
